SPEAKER_05

Welcome everyone to the Crosstalk Podcast. If you haven't heard the last episode yet, we are your new hosts. I'm Vasso.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm Sebastian.

SPEAKER_05

And we are very excited to welcome you to our very first uh episode together. How do you feel, Sebastian?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, I'm also really very excited. I think it's nice to start this new adventure. And yeah, we hope that everyone who's listening also is excited to see what's coming now with the podcast.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, exactly. I'm also very excited to be working on this with you. And I'm looking forward to the future episodes.

SPEAKER_03

By the way, for the people who's listening, have you noticed something different at the beginning? We have a new intro song. So actually, something nice that Basso and some of her colleagues did. So maybe Basso, can you tell us something about it?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's right. When we were discussing the details about the podcast episode with Suzanne, we actually asked her if it's uh a good idea to also change the intro song so that we introduce this new era with the new hosts of the podcast. And she was very kind to say yes. So uh, me and a very good friend of mine and also colleague in the IMC uh society, Carol Nivia Domsky, we composed the intro song, and uh, spoiler alert, we also composed the outro song. So please uh stick until the end of the episode to also listen to that. So, yeah, it it was a very nice uh experience, and I I hope that you like it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, thanks, Vaso. Um yeah, so I I hope that yeah, you guys like it, and then you're looking forward also to listen to the outro. So stay in the episode, and then you will hear what Vaso and her colleague have prepared for it. So, Vaso, what we are talking about today.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, so we thought that uh for our first episode we would do an overview of all the EMC conferences that are coming up uh in the next uh couple of months and inform you on the dates, events, and uh opportunities that you have uh over there so that you are up to date and you can uh mark your agendas accordingly. So we will go uh through them in a chronological order. So before we go into the conferences, I want to remind everyone that the newest issue of the EMC magazine is out. So you may have now received it in your mailbox in paper form, or otherwise, you can visit the website where there is an interactive digital issue of the magazine, and it is very nice to go through because it has all the different sections very nicely uh organized, so you can uh go through it very easily, and you can be updated about all the uh current events or what has already happened uh over the past year regarding the different chapters, different events that took place in the EMC society, and uh much more.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and you may also find a familiar face there, but also you can find all the as Basso mentioned the uh technical articles and also some reviews, some books. So we highly encourage you to check the magazine latest issue. With this, now we can continue with all the events. Um an honorable mention is one that actually happened recently. Uh, which as mentioned, we are going to go through it chronologically. And by the time of recording, it just happened the APMC, which is the Asia Pacific Altramatic Compatibility Symposion. Uh, this year was in Kuala Lumpur from May 4th until May 7th. You may have been there, maybe not. Well, if you were there, we hope you enjoyed it. And yeah, maybe it's nice to keep it in mind for next year's versions, and something always that happens every year. And at least from personal experience, I can say that it's very interesting. You can always find very nice talks or uh nice workshops and presentations there.

SPEAKER_05

So and if you were there, then you can also send us your uh feedback and if you found something interesting there and how the conference was. So we are very open to hear your stories and your experiences, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, definitely. Thanks, Bas. Um now continuing chronologically, one that you you can still attend is the IEEE International Microwave Symposium, which is taking place from June 7th to June 12th in Boston, Massachusetts. So you may have not heard of it, but it's one of the major RF and microwave uh conferences where definitely you can find all types of related topics to RF, integrated circuits, microwave millimeter wave systems. And although it's not exactly in the EMC field, you for sure can find topics that interest you. So we recommend you that you check their website, check the program, and actually they have a very nice website. I was checking that with Basel last time. So I really encourage you to go to it, and who knows, maybe you find something that you like. Then continuing chronologically to be closer to us, actually, we have the 30th edition of the IEEE workshop on signaling power integrity. This time will be from 14th June to 17th June in Turin, Italy. As the title suggests, you can find a lot of signal and power integrity topics for high-speak lecturing systems to design, modeling, and testing. Then there also you can find many keynotes, oral and poster sessions, and so on. And actually, you can also find the CP University workshop from which you will hear more later, uh, where we have some insights. So, yeah, the registration is open, so don't hesitate to check it. And maybe it's close to you. And if it's also for a field that you are interested in, you can check their website and maybe register. Now, again, continuing with the all the events, we have the IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC URSI radio science meeting. And this one is taking from July, taking place from July 12th to July 17th. It's in Detroit, Michigan, so we're going back to the US now. And similar to the previous events and conferences, this is more about the antennas and radio science. And of course, if you're talking about that, you're also talking about electromagnetics, which is related to us. So if you're working on the field of FMC, probably you will find something that you will really interest you there. And you can still register with a discount there until the 11th of June. So go to the website, check the program, and if it's something that's catching your attention, definitely go for it. This is one of the conferences that I have heard multiple times. And yeah, I'm pretty sure that you will find nice topics and nice people to meet there. Okay, now these were some of the conferences that were happening and fields that are very close to EMC, especially the one in Turin. But now we are going to one of the big conferences in the MC community, right, Basso?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's right. We are going to the very famous EMC Plus uh CP conference, which is uh taking place in Dallas, Texas this year, which is very exciting.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, exactly. So it's taking place from the 3rd of August to the 7th of August. As Baso mentioned, it's in Texas this year. And in this one, as we mentioned, is one of the biggest uh conferences in EMC. So you can find all the EMC topics related there, for going from uh signal and point integrity, of course, because of the name, and also going to like different measurement techniques, standards, uh interference mitigation, and so on.

SPEAKER_05

And uh yeah, the technical program is out, so you can definitely look at what presentations you want to go and follow. Uh there are also the Clayton RPOL Global University and Global Signal and Power CP University. I think you have more information about that, Sebastian, right?

SPEAKER_03

Right. You're right, Basso. So yeah, we actually got some more concrete information about the technical program. And for example, for the Clayton RPOL University, we actually were in contact with one of the organizers, which gave us some insights about it. So what they were saying was that the point of the global university is that it's not the same as a workshop or these presentations that we have in the conference. Actually, for this technical program, you will get to learn from university-level EMC experts, and you will get to remember or learn again the fundamentals of EMC and each of the topics that each of these, as you mentioned, university level or industry experts can teach you about it. Also, the idea is that you can, as you mentioned, remember the fundamentals, but also get to learn from these other topics that you maybe are not too much familiar with.

SPEAKER_05

And uh yeah, we highly recommend uh the Clayton Arpol University to also the new PhD students or people that are new into the field, maybe, because it's a very nice overview of different EMC topics, and you get to know a lot of experts. So I remember uh that I also did it when I started my PhD some years ago, and it was a very nice and informative uh uh sequence of sessions. So I definitely and highly recommend that.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks, Faso. Thanks for sharing your experience. Then also continuing with the technical programs, we have also the aerospace mid-career EMC training, where of course you can deepen your knowledge in EMC aerospace, or if you already have knowledge of EMC, you can get to know more about what's happening in the aerospace field. You can also find the conference standards week, where of course, as the name says, you can get to get more information about the current standards and also get familiar with them. And who knows, maybe you will get to meet the people who's working on that.

SPEAKER_05

Future Vasco here. While editing this episode, we received a message from Karen Burnham about Standards Week.

SPEAKER_01

Let's hear it. Hello, I'm Karen Burnham, Vice President of Standards for the IEEE EMC Society. I'd like to invite you to participate in Standards Week 2026, which will be held in association with the EMC Symposium in Dallas, Texas. But you don't have to come to the symposium to participate. All standard working groups that are currently active will be holding hybrid meetings, which are open to the public. If there are any standards that are relevant to your professional interests, I encourage you to attend in person or online. I hope to see you there.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you, Karen, for sending us this message. Now let's go back to the episode.

SPEAKER_03

Continuing with the technical programs and one that Bas already mentioned, we also have the Global CP University, which is also happening in the EMC Plus CP conference and also in the conference in Turin. And we actually got in contact with one of the organizers of the Global CP University, and they were very kind and sent us an audio talking about what you can expect in this technical program both here in EMCCP and also in the Turing workshop. So this person is Mahid Adhadi from the Key Size Technologies. So let's hear what they have to say.

SPEAKER_02

The Signal and Polaro Integrity Global University is intended to offer a short educational course on signal and polar integrity, covering the basics and advanced topics, thus meeting the industry needs in terms of skilled engineers with a background in these two disciplines to address the increasing complexity and challenges of electronic system design, ranging from the ever-growing data rates targeted beyond 200 cubit per second to the larger currents in actual high-speed digital systems for consumer electronics and over-demanding data centers involved in the AIML technology development among many other applications. Such a specific expert expertise in SI and PI is critically sought after by industry, but is often scarce in traditional academic programs. Moreover, after the wide success of the first two editions in the USA in 2024 and 2025 in a street time of close collaboration and advancing technology worldwide the ITPL EMC Society in partnership with ITRPL Electronic Packaging Society and the SPI 2026 organization will inaugurate the SIPI Global University at the 2026 ITP workshop on signal and colour integrity SPI to be held in Turin, Italy, bringing this premier educational experience to a wider international audience and ensuring another year of intensive top quality learning across across continents. The SPI in Turin, the event will be a focused one-day intensive course outlined to equip students, technicians, and engineers with further tools to tackle the crucial design challenges. Attendees will dive deep into SI and PI core concepts, learning directly from experienced and renowned instructors drawn from both industry and academia. A carefully curated curriculum aims to balance fundamental tech theory with direct practical application, covering analytical method simulation tools and measurement techniques for solution validation. Please join us to boost your SIP and PI background and to see the most challenging problems that current industry is addressing from keynote presentations from leading companies such as IBM, Meta, Apple, AMD, NVIDIA, among many others.

SPEAKER_03

Many thanks to Mahid for giving us this nice insight about the global CP University program, both in EMCCP and also in Turin. So it definitely sounds very interesting and like a great opportunity to learn from the experts in the CP field. So if you are interested for this and for all these technical programs that we have mentioned, we encourage you to go to the website of the ENCP conference where you can get to learn about them and also get to know more information about the registration.

SPEAKER_05

And don't forget to visit also the experiments and demonstrations while you are there because I think they're uh very interesting. And you can also find them uh in the website, and you can already mark the ones that you want to follow, because then you can see in real time uh uh uh experiments and uh you can see the equipment and maybe try some things yourself. So definitely check it out uh if you're joining uh this year's conference.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, thanks Vaso. And now actually we are going to the social events that are happening in the conference. And this year we also have the women engineering event, and we actually got a message from one of the organizers. Right, Vaso?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's right. We have the IEEE Women in Engineering event, which is happening in uh uh in the conference every year, and this year it's happening on Wednesday, August 5th. And I have already seen this the program and it's very, very interesting. But we also got in contact with uh Tara Kellogg, who is one of the organizers of this event, and she has also sent us an audio which we can uh listen to now and hear what she has to say.

SPEAKER_00

Hello everyone. This is Tara Kellogg, Global Director of Business Development at ETS Lingren and IEEE EMC Society WIME Engineering Chair for North America. Today I'd like to invite you to join us for a special IEEE EMT Society WIME Engineering event at the Dallas Symposium on Wednesday, August 5th. This session is designed as both a networking and enrichment opportunity by bringing together professionals across the EMT community to share experiences, insights, and perspectives on creating an exciting career path in engineering. This year we have two outstanding speakers, Nika and Marella, will share practical guidance on launching and growing a career in EMT with a focus on mentorship, technical development, and navigating early career challenges. We'll also hear from Colonel Carrie Jones, a accomplished Air Force leader and educator who will offer a powerful perspective on leadership service and the real-world impact of engineering. And so beyond the presentations, this event is really about connection. Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, it is a great opportunity to engage with peers, exchange ideas, and just be part of a broader community that supports growth and innovation in our field. This event is open to everyone. So please join us for engaging sessions, great conversations, and a chance to celebrate the EMC community all together. You will be able to sign up for the Women Engineering event during the symposium registration and walk-ins are always welcome as well. You can find out more about this event on the IEEE EMC CP 2026 website under social events. We look forward to seeing you there and see you in Dallas.

SPEAKER_05

Well, that sounds very, very interesting. I highly encourage uh everyone that is interested in the women in engineering event to definitely uh join that. The talks uh look very interesting, and um yeah, I wish I would I was going this year so I could see these these talks myself, but okay, maybe in the future. So, apart from the women in engineering event, I think we also have a very nice event for young people, uh Sebastian, right?

SPEAKER_03

Uh yes, so in this edition of the NC Plus CP, we have again the young professional event. This year it's happening both on the first and second day of the conference. So, again, if you are a young professional yourself, or if you feel like a young professional at heart, you can join this event and you can learn more about them in the website. But you probably can register both when you register for the conference and also when you arrive to the conference and in the uh reception booth, you can register for this. So do not miss the opportunity because we feel that it's a very nice moment to get to meet other people who is in the same point as you in the EMC field, and then you can learn from each other. But also, there are many experts that have some a lot of experience in this field, and you can learn from there in these events also, and you can get to meet them in a different way, not just in the presentation and so on, but also in a more relaxed environment.

SPEAKER_05

So if you are interested in joining this year's EMC Plus CP conference in Dallas, Texas, from August 3rd until August 7th, you can do it by um pushing the registration button. There is still time until the 30th of June for an early birth um uh price of the ticket. So make sure that you do it in time and that you go because it's uh one of the very nice uh conferences in the EMC society, and um it's always good to go and uh meet other EMC colleagues from all over the world. So we hope that uh if you go, you have a great time there.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, thanks Vasso. Um yeah, we hope that you are looking forward to it. And if you're interested, go and look at the website and maybe register for that. Okay, so now we're coming to the end of the conference and events happening this year, at least the really big ones. And definitely last but not least, we are going to the other big conference in our field, which is EMC Europe.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we have EMC Europe 2026, which uh is happening from the 31st of August until the 4th of September, and it's happening in Prague in Czech Republic. Uh, the program is not out yet because the paper results have just been uh been out, so uh there is still some time for uh the whole program uh to be published, but stay tuned for that uh by checking the website. However, you can already register in the um in the website there is an early birth uh fee until June 1st. So keep an eye for uh for the program in the website and uh make sure that you register in time. But we are very glad because one of the local organizing uh committee members uh uh Has been in contact with us, so we have a message from her. She's uh Dashna Namascalo, and let's hear what she has to say.

SPEAKER_04

Hello, everybody. My name is Darina Mascalo. I am a member of the local organizing committee for IMS Europe 2026. And on behalf of the local organizing committee, I am very pleased and honored to welcome you all to IMS Europe in Prague. And IMS Europe has a very strong track record, so I don't need to say very much to promote it. We have seen the continued growth in technical papers, workshops, and tutorials over the past years. And this year, the conference will span five full days with workshops and tutorials running in parallel with technical sessions. And of course, we all come for the content, but the setting does matter. And in Prague, we are also very excited about the venue of the conference, which overlooks the beautiful city of Prague, which we hope will add to the experience of the conference. We look forward to welcoming you all in Prague in the first week of September.

SPEAKER_05

So that's great. Thank you very much, Dasha, for sending this audio uh recording to us. We are very excited. Uh, hopefully, we will also be able to join this year, Sebastian.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, definitely. Thanks, uh Dasha, for the insights and the nice message. Definitely, we hope to join this year, and maybe yeah, you will get to meet us there. So, with this, we have mentioned most of the big events that are happening this year in the field of EMC and close to the EMC field. But also do not forget to check your local IEEE EMC chapters for any event that is happening close to you. Who knows? Maybe you will realize that there's something planned and you get the opportunity to meet fellow EMC professionals and share knowledge in your area.
